I was delighted to read this morning that President Obama bestowed the Presidential Medal of Honor on slain SF Supervisor Harvey Milk. Harvey was one of my personal heroes and encouraged me to come out of the closet. (I liked some of the other winners, too: Sidney Poiter, Ted Kennedy, Billie Jean King, Desmond Tutu, Stephen Hawking and Mary Robinson.)
